I Didn’t Kill My Husband

23 Oct

David is really disturbed by self inflicted pain. He thinks it’s unnatural to give yourself a shot. In my mind, we inflict pain on ourselves all the time for the greater good. I mean, I don’t like the chiropractor snapping my neck, but I feel great for days afterwards. And David’s in so much pain with his arthritis, what’s the big deal with a little shot?

My Family Makes Me Feel Lazy

25 Aug

I love my family. I enjoy spending time with them. But as Monk would say, here’s the thing. My parents and brothers make me feel lazy.

My father has worked two full time jobs since before I was born. Growing up my brothers would always list two things they wanted to be when folks would ask, “What do you want to be when you grow up?” They just thought it was normal for all men to have two careers.
My mother is Martha Stewart only nicer. Mom makes the most beautiful bows for packages. At Christmas, she makes Martha Washington Candy, homemade rolls that are to die for, and 20 dozen sugar cookies plus homemade frosting in four different colors. The last two years she also made this incredible crock pot candy. It’s four kinds of chocolate and cashews. Last year I made carmel corn. It was supposed to be for our neighbors, but I ate it all myself.

When are you going to have a baby?

4 Jun

Honestly? We’d have a baby right now if we could. But we can’t. With our chronic illnesses and all our medications, we are currently physically incapable. It’s very difficult being told you cannot have children until you’re healthier. And the doctors have no idea when that will be. It could be a month. It could be a year. It could be ten. Adoption isn’t an option. With our poor health, we wouldn’t even qualify to adopt. Plus, I can’t take care of David and a baby. We truly cannot have children until we’re healthy.
