Christmas 2009

Christmas 2009 was great! Christmas Eve morning, David and I slept in. I made smoothies for breakfast, and we had just settled on the couch to drink them and watch a Christmas movie when my mother called. The weather man was reporting that Dallas would have whiteout conditions by noon, and we needed to head to the suburb where both my parents and in-laws live so we wouldn’t have to drive on the freeway once the storm hit. David and I threw our clothes (some of mine dirty) in a suitcase, as well as all of our stuff to bake cookies, and two dogs since we were dog sitting for our friends. [...]

Every year David and I have a tradition of doing something different. Last year we drove around and looked at Christmas lights in a very nice neighborhood. One year we saw A Christmas Carol at the Dallas Theater Center. It’s nice doing something special, just the two of us. We really like trying new things, so that’s our tradition. [...]

Christmas Gift Ideas

There’s also the gift of time. Brother #3 is a busy man, and this year he asked me to get his dog registered with his city. In his city, you actually have to go to Animal Control’s office to register your pet. They don’t let you mail in your paper work. And guess what? Sometimes Animal Control has to leave the building to catch animals. So, Tuesday I expect to spend a few hours reading a book in Animal Control’s parking lot [...]
