Anti-Inflammation Diet for Arthritis

David saw an acupuncturist here in Dallas last week. He didn’t get the relief he got from the acupuncture treatments he had in Dallas, but we did have a good consultation with the acupuncturist about David’s diet.

He wants David to stop drinking all soda. He said soda contains phosphoric acid that can leach minerals from David’s bones. Since David has Psoriatic Arthritis, it’s obviously important that he take care of his bones.

Chronic Illness and Finances

As I was doing our taxes this year, I tallied up all of our medical expenses for 2009. We spent $12,000. And we didn’t even have any surgeries or hospitalizations.

Suffice it to say, we’ve never been able to go beyond an emergency fund to a savings account with three months of living expenses. Sorry Suze.

David had his second Humira injection Thursday. It did not go well. Let’s just say we were both upset and yelling, and I’m extremely glad we only have to do this twice a month.

David is not feeling any benefits from the Humira, yet. I’m still praying he feels better by Thanksgiving. Can you believe Thanksgiving is only six weeks away?

Acupuncture or Relief!

While David was lying on the table, the acupuncturist came out to the waiting room and told me, “I’ve never treated anyone this bad!” This man has been practicing acupuncture for 47 years. Yikes!

Hello! David saw our family doctor Tuesday afternoon. We were asking if David should stop taking the methotrexate since he’s only getting worse, but our doctor said we really need to talk to the rheumy about it. He said it may be helping more than we realize. He also said that rheumatologists are “different” people. [...]
