Declutter Challenge
10 Jan
I am not a pack rat. I had no problem getting rid of stuffed animals David gave me in high school when I moved out of my parents’ house simply because I had no desire to pack them.

However, like most people, I can always use a little encouragement. The Declutter Challenge made me want to go through every closet and cabinet (again) to be sure I’m not wasting space. Amy at The Finer Things is hosting the Declutter Challenge, and her goal is 730 items in 365 days. I’m not sure I’ll be getting rid of quite that much, but we’ll see!
I went through our bedroom closets before Christmas, and have quite a lot to put in a garage sale my mother-in-law is having at the end of this month. David is helping me, and he’s already gotten rid of sixteen files in our office!
Being organized means I don’t waste money buying something because I can’t find what I already own. Clutter gets in the way and wastes my time. Anyone else want to join the Declutter Challenge? Amy will post a linky at the end of each month so we can share our successes and encourage each other.

What a great challenge!
Hmm…this sounds like something I need to do. If I’d go through my filing cabinets, I might could clear out 730 pieces of paper in one day.
Thanks for letting us know about this. Good luck to you!
Hi Ashley! It’s nice to “meet” you. I’ve added your site to my “follow” list so that I can keep up with you.
I look foward to becoming blogging buddies.
Best wishes.
For His glory,
Brook
That sounds like an awesome challenge. I love decluttering. Less = more in my family.
Thanks for the SITS love.
Being organized IS the best feeling ever! Love your blog!
WOW. I think we got rid of 730 things in the last 3 months! We had a HUGE garage sale this summer (actually we left everything on tables in the garage and had several garage sales)…
You’re SO right about clutter though…we unloaded our pantry, cleaned everything, re-worked the shelves, and reloaded everything (now it’ smy Monk pantry!) We found 3 bottles of honey and 3 open bottles of light corn syrup. I would bake something, not have one ingredient (or THINK I didn’t have it) and Doug would buy more. Now I can see EXACTLY what I have and it saves time and money!
I really need to do this! I’ve been working on it-next up? Financial/taxes/files. Wish me luck!
Thanks for visiting me!
The only problem (or asset?) to decluttering when you have a fire place is that when you change your mind – it’s already gone!
I have just started (today) going through boxes in the loft. I have purchased an amazing amount of things again because I couldn’t find it packed away. I’m with ya sister.
