You Might Be a Couple With Chronic Illness If...

You might be a couple with chronic illness if…

In your opinion, the most important part of marriage vows is “in sickness and in health” and you give books about chronic illness and marriage as wedding presents.

You refer to the restaurant next to your specialist’s office as “our place”. You have so many memories of that restaurant.

At parties you entertain friends by telling your versions of the same hospital visit because the person on all the pain medicine has a different perspective of the experience. (Read this story of David badly burning his hand for an example. His version is completely different.)

You both agree that making the house wheel chair accessible would be the first thing you’d do if you won the lottery.

Okay, that was all the funny stuff David and I could think of. The rest was all just really sad.

In sickness and in health means more than ever now. I completely agree with the separate hospital versions. ;) You are in my prayers, and I know I am in yours.

  • Oh honey. I can relate. NOt so much the giving books about chronic illness as wedding gifts…
    But that’s HILARIOUS!
Hope you are having a better week!
