No Chewing Diet

Hey! You can follow me on Twitter!

Here’s a list of foods you don’t have to chew. It’s handy for people like me with TMJ Disorder, and maybe it would help someone who’s recently had oral surgery. Remember, sucking smoothies through a straw strains the jaw muscles!

*Pudding
*Mashed Potatoes
*Egg Drop Soup
*Frozen Yogurt (Eat it with a spoon)
*Protein Shakes
*Slim Fast
*Custard
*Applesauce
*Yogurt
*Mashed Sweet Potatoes
*Oatmeal

A word of caution about soups. Most soups are great for people with jaw pain. However, if someone has recently had oral surgery, soups with chunks of anything are probably not a good idea. My brother had to be really careful after having his wisdom teeth removed. The surgeon said people have been getting tiny pieces of broccoli stuck in their sockets.

And, as with anything else, you should do whatever your doctor says. Sometimes after oral surgery, you’re not supposed to have anything extremely warm or extremely cold.

Hope that helps!

Love,
A Young Wife

Are you feeling ok? …couldn’t find the diet coke listed? ha.ha. :o ]

  • Ugh, when I got my wisdom teeth out it was terrible. I was allergic to every single pain medication. Thank you for sharing!

  • Oh, Marissa! I can’t even imagine what I would have done if I would have been allergic to the pain meds. Yikes!

He, he! No, I’ve got plenty of Diet Coke. I was just thinking about foods you don’t have to chew because of Brother #1 and a friend that recently had dental work done. I do see Dr. Bender on Tuesday for a regular adjustment, though. Right now my face/head hurts when I wear sunglasses. The chiropractor is helping a lot.
