Hey sweetie,

I can just see you dancing! At least we know that someday we WILL all dance again. I used to sing... now I have a trach, and no range. That's probably the hardest thing about my entire disease. Losing my ability to sing. {sigh} But again, in heaven I will sing and sing and sing!

Looking forward to Thanksgiving, but it's also Christmas for my side...My parents are going to Florida after my nieces wedding next week. I'll reeeallly miss them.

I hope you will be dancing again soon! People tell me all the time I'm too young to have arthritis (and I'm 49). My husband and son gave me a picture frame with this quote: "Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass, it's about learning to dance in the rain". Hope we'll all dance again. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

I definitely hate that line from the automated voice! If my call was really important, a real person would have picked up the phone and asked me very politely to hold because she/he had someone else on the other line.

I hope the disease gets to remission in your husband soon. Long term illnesses and injuries are such a drain (mentally). I had an experimental surgery last december and am finally off of a cane as of this summer (yes, I'm only 27, so the cane was a bit embarrassing). I'll be praying for remission for your husband, too.

So your question about Thanksgiving... last Friday my neighbors were talking about the price of turkey at the grocery store...I was wondering why on earth are you buying turkey so early? Now today, I realize Thanksgiving is this week... so, no, I am not prepared in the least... my husband and I need to decide if we are doing a road trip to Williamsburg, VA (thus no dinner at home) or making something at home.

(P.S. I used to be a diet coke fiend in college - there was a coke machine outside of my dorm room for 4 years - but somewhere along the line I turned to Diet Pepsi - which my friends now wonder if I receive via IV in addition to all of it I drink!)

"Usually, my response is, “I know.”"

That's a powerful line. Such a simple response. It would be good for poetic prose, especially given the negative context.

It's sad how stinky situations that are out of our control can wear us down...I do hope things get better for you soon. Remember the good times though...sometimes that (and the promise of more) is what gets me through!
