WFMW – What to Take to an Extended Stay Hotel for Food Prep

10 Nov

Staying at an extended stay hotel is great. You can save a lot of money by cooking when you’re traveling instead of eating out. It also comes in handy if you have food allergies or special dietary restrictions. Extended stay hotels typically advertise that they have fully stocked kitchens. In my experience, that means two plates, two bowls, a dull knife, a fork and a pot. Not quite everything I need to prepare food.

Here are some things I take when we’re staying at an extended stay hotel.

Dish soap

Extra hand towels and rags (One kitchen towel to get me through a week? How often do these people wash their hands?)

WFMW – How to Pack Eggs

2 Nov

Here’s a tip to help you pack food for traveling. If you’re camping, staying at a cabin or an extended stay hotel, don’t take your eggs in their carton. Crack them at home and transport them in a food storage container.

WFMW – Garage Sale Stickers to Help You Move

20 Oct

In March, David and I moved from Dallas, Texas to Camden, New Jersey. David began working just three weeks after his interview. We had to move fast! We left a lot of our stuff behind in storage, and we sold or gave away many items.

To help David and I get on the same page about what we were taking with us, one night we went around the house and color coded everything with stickers. We had these garage sale price stickers on hand, but you could use any colored stickers. We marked all the items we were taking to Jersey with orange stickers. Pink was for storage and orange was for things we were selling or giving away.

If you turn left, you go up to the kitchen and living room. If you go down and to the left you go to our bedroom and bath. But if you go to the right, you go to our office/guest bedroom.
