Dumb Blonde

*Recently I was working at my part time job at the law firm. I was at the front desk and a solicitor came in and gave me his business card. He started giving me the whole sales pitch. He was talking quickly, people were walking by and the phones were ringing. I managed to catch a few words here and there, including “server” and “process”.

Being the geek that I am, I told him, “Ok, thanks, I’ll give Stephanie your business card.” Stephanie handles a lot of our computer issues. Since I’d heard those two key words, naturally I thought he was a computer guy. Nope. He was a “process server”. The guys that hands folks papers and says, “You’ve been served.”

Lesson Learned: I work for a law firm, I have no legal experience, and I need to watch more Law & [...]

Oh, Henry!

You may recall that I started knitting. Henry, our lab/shepherd mix loves soft things like stuffed animals and pillows. Loves them to pieces. So when I was knitting, he kept trying to get the yarn. I guess he got the message that he couldn’t play with the yarn because he chewed up the knitting needles instead. [...]

Getting to Know the Local Police

We think our house is being cased. Bad guys must think our house is vacant since it has a For Sale sign in the front yard. They seem to overlook the open blinds, dog in the yard, car in the driveway and lights on inside the house. Friday night, a vehicle pulled up in front of our house at about eleven o’clock. They sat there with their lights on for thirty minutes. Truly, they just sat there. They never got out of their car, or turned on their interior lights to look at a map. [...]

Henry the Guard Dog

David and I rescued Henry from an animal shelter last year. We love him so much.  He’s been so good for us. Henry motivates David to keep moving even though he’s hurting.

Henry is a great guard dog. He always lets us know when someone is approaching our house. He tries to jump through the front [...]

Tornado

Most people have keys to their house. I don’t. I have a garage door opener. With our house on the market, my key is in a lock box on the front door. A garage door opener doesn’t work if the power is out. So Henry and I sat in my car until David got home and unlocked the door. We talked to the neighbors that live behind us. They said that Henry had not been happy about the storm. They said he was pacing on the porch and growling and the storm. He was pretty upset. So upset, that David and I couldn’t get him to get out of the car for ten minutes. We pulled and pushed and finally got him to come inside. We dried him off and gave him a milk bone. He was still pretty [...]
