Remember this? Yeah, my first vlog. Funny, right? Well, it could have been a lot funnier.

You see, the scene outside with the two liter was really a practice run. After David filmed it, we did it again, only this time, I took a few gulps and then began pouring the Diet Coke all over my face and head. It was so hilarious! Henry came over and started licking my legs. I had mascara streaming down my face. I was soaked. I had to shower and wash my clothes.

But David didn’t get it on tape.

I was standing in a puddle of Diet Coke when he told me. I laughed and said, “Ha, ha. Very funny.”

He was serious.

I was not up for a retake.

To come off of your Flare Up Diet, have a Snickers bar and an apple for lunch. That’s what I did. I went to make a sandwich for lunch as we were leaving for work yesterday morning, and the bread was all molded. I don’t even like Snickers bars that much. The Snickers bar was from our last trip to the lake with my parents. Some of their food got into our ice chest. Thanks, Mom. I didn’t starve. Oh, and then on the way home, I had to stop at the mall to look for a birthday present for my niece. In my mental fog from lack of sleep and the emotional drain of bathing and dressing my husband for three days, I got a cinnamon pretzel from Auntie Anne’s. And a Diet Coke. And then I had to ask for directions to the bathroom in Macy’s twice.

Seriously, thank you to everyone bringing us food, saving us from our sugary, sodium laden diet!

I’ve only had half a Diet Coke this morning. There. You’ve had fair warning.

What the heck? When did it become acceptable to ask a lady her age? Clearly, if I’m driving, I’m not 14. If I have a Sam’s Club card, I’m probably not 16, and you don’t need to know where my mother is before you give me a sample of food. And if I’m in business clothes sitting at a desk in an office, I’m probably at least 18, and therefor old enough that you shouldn’t ask me how old I am. Don’t even get me started on the fact that I’m wearing a wedding ring, and that should tell you a lot right there.

And why do I keep getting wedding invitations with registry information in them? Every ettiquette expert and bridal magazine will tell you that it is rude to put your registry information on/in your wedding invitation.

For goodness sake people! Arthritis is an invisible illness. Do not tell me David looks like he’s feeling better. The only people who can sometimes tell how David is feeling by looking at him is his immediate family. David is very good at acting like he’s feeling fine when he’s really in a lot of pain.

It’s not just joint pain. The rheumatologist explained that people with arthritis feel like they have the flu all the time. Remember that. Every time you talk to David, he at a minimum feels like he has the flu.

I’m sorry if I butt in on conversations you may try to have with David about his arthritis. I keep up with all his health care information, and a lot of times, he doesn’t know the answers to the questions you’re asking him. Plus, with all the medication he’s on, sometimes he has a hard time thinking clearly, remembering information or carrying on a real conversation.

Thanks. I’ve got the rest of the Diet Coke in me now.

Here’s a great tip my mother gave me for getting rid of fruit flies. Our house rarely has bugs, but I think I picked up some bad bananas at the store. The fruit flies were driving us  crazy. Mother said to fill a plastic cup three quarters of the way full with apple cider vinegar and a drop of dish soap and set it in the kitchen window. Here’s how the cup looked a few hours later.

Yes, I have used my Coke Rewards Points to buy Christmas presents. No, my brother did not care. Free movie tickets are free movie tickets.

My mother loves Diet Pepsi. I think that means I have a genetic predisposition to love phenylalanine. Personally, I think phenylalanine protects you against Swine Flu.

Even with all the Diet Coke I consume, I still manage to drink eight glasses of water a day. This means I am almost constantly drinking, no guzzling, something. Wherever I am, there’s sure to be a Diet Coke nearby. See…Here I am at church during a Bible reading marathon.

My favorite way to drink Diet Coke is straight from a can. Equally good is a Diet Coke from Sonic. Their ice makes it taste so delicious. My least favorite form of Diet Coke is a bottle. Not that it tastes bad. It’s just that the plastic bottle doesn’t insulate very well and before long you’re drinking room temperature Diet Coke which is nasty.

So what’s your favorite way to drink your beverage of choice? Or, in the case of some, what’s your favorite form of chocolate?

My parents did not let me drink Diet Coke when I was a child. I had tasted Diet Pepsi when they would drink it, but I was a Dr. Pepper girl growing up.

The first time I had Diet Coke was at Girl Scout Camp. The cantina where we went every afternoon after swimming had Mr. Pibb. At nine, I’d never heard of it, and didn’t realize how much like Dr. Pepper it tasted. It was very hot. So I got a Diet Coke. Every day for five days. And the Diet Coke tasted sooo good.

Still, I rarely had it after that until probably tenth grade. And, just so you know, I really had cut back to one a day until the weekend from H***. That weekend, there’s no telling how much Diet Coke I consumed. That was when I decided to embrace the Diet Coke.

Oh, and please don’t try to tell me it’s going to give me cancer. Because the only people who ever chew me out about it are fat and/or they don’t eat right. I’m going to live long enough to see them die of heart disease.

I figure I can enjoy Diet Coke all I want. I don’t drink or smoke. I’ve never done drugs. I eat lots of fruits and vegetables and exercise. See, I can justify anything. Don’t let me go shopping with you.

Plus, my parents have been drinking massive quantities of Diet Pepsi since I was a child, and they’re extremely healthy, so I figure I’m safe.

Momma, Daddy, please tell me you don’t have cancer.
