WFMW – Decorating With What You’ve Got

10 Mar

This week Works for Me Wednesday is hosted by Rocks in My Dryer.

My husband is a computer programmer. We have LOTS of spare computer parts.

As I was decluttering my craft closet, I found a tin where I’d hidden some money and forgotten all about it. With $30, I went to Michael’s to look for shadow boxes. I figured they’d probably be a lot more than that, so I’d more than likely have to wait until David got another job to get them.

Guess what? They had solid wood shadow boxes on clearance for $10 each! I got three of them.

This is what David and I created. Decorations for his home office.

Some of the pieces were attached to the backing with double sided tape and some were bolted.

I love using what you’ve got to decorate without spending much money. You could use this idea with interesting books or music or small antiques such as gloves and handbags, postcards and shells, etc.

Decorating using what you’ve already got works for me!

Very cute! We just dug up some window dividers for house windows…they look just like those really expensive multi-8×10 picture frame things? Except these were free! A little TLC and glass for the front, I can hang HUNDREDS of pics! YAY!
