Nesting

Check out Simmer Till Done. I was eating oatmeal cookie dough when I found this post about Secret Snacks of Shame. Leave a comment on their post divulging your Secret Snack of Shame and they’ll donate a canned good to their local food bank.

Since we’re staying in our house and not trying to move into a one story, I’m nesting. The best and easiest part is unpacking all of our photos and putting them back on the walls. I love photos. It makes me so happy to walk in a room and see pictures of my family. Or Henry. :)

I’ve started remembering things we said we needed before we put the house on the market. Like I need an ergonomically designed chair for my desk. I want the arms to adjust not only vertically, but horizontally. Standard office chairs have arm rests that make me look like I’m doing the chicken dance. The seat will of course need to be adjustable, too. Oh, yeah. I’d also like it in a cream color, preferably a feminine style. Anyone know where I can get one of those?

Eventually, I want to get a vanity chair for my bathroom. This one was made for me.

But my man doesn’t seem to think so.

He’d be happier with this, but it’s still a bit much for him. The Horchow prices are also way too much for us. Since he was able to reupholster the console in the Explorer, I keep trying to tell him he could make me a vanity chair. He’s not listening.

More realistically, I want bookshelves. If David feels up to it, he could make some. He’s really good at that sort of thing. Hmm…how much longer before the Humira should start working?

Here are some bookshelves I like. bookshlvs

Hey, have you searched for bookshelves online? A lot of furniture stores don’t even have book shelves. They have “media centers” with big holes in the middle for televisions. Or they have eight different children’s bookshelves and none for adults. What’s up with that?

We have gotten a few good bookshelves at ikea, and the ones for sage’s room at target. The seems to look nice and hold up well so far. actually, the lady that is buying our house liked the ikea ones so much she wrote them into the contract!

I second Amy’s opinon of the IKEA bookshelves. We have the Billy bookcases from IKEA and they have held up beautifully. They sell a variety of glass doors and lighting that can really spiff them up if you wanted something more formal.

IKEA has lots of bookcase options and price points so you can get what you need there. They have particle board bookcases and then some in solid wood and some that are in between The only thing is that everything comes flat in a box and has to be assembled. This might be taxing for David to do, but you can always have them put together for a small charge and pick them up ready to install.

  • Did you know there is a Horchow outlet store in Plano? It’s at Preston and Parker. Sometimes you can find the things from the catalog there, but I warn you, the prices are less but not dirt cheap.

Amy, I LOVE the IKEA bookshelf setup you have in the dining room…it was so perfect for that room, no wonder the buyer wanted it! I couldn’t believe it when you told me they came from IKEA.
