I went with my SIL to the Pioneer Woman’s cookbook signing here in Dallas. My SIL is one smart shopper! She watched PW’s cook book on Amazon and snagged a few copies when they got down to $11.50! It was a good thing, too, because Border’s sold out of their 700 copies.
Every single one of the recipes I have tried from Pioneer Woman’s website has been terrific. I’m delighted to have a pretty cookbook now instead of loose printed pages.
I drove to Border’s here in Dallas around 3 o’clock and got wristbands to secure our place in line. The book signing began at 7. SIL and I were in the third group. We arrived 8 and left Border’s around 11. A word of caution if you’re going to future book signings: carpool. Parking was crazy! The Pioneer Woman is a very nice lady to stay as long as it takes to sign every cookbook. I heard a rumor that the last book was signed at 2:30 AM!
While we stood in line we met several lovely people, including the lucky lady who grabbed Border’s last copy of the cook book! We chatted about our favorite PW recipes and how we found her.
Ree is just as pretty and funny in real life as she is on her blog. She didn’t speak before the signing like she did at some of her other stops. I didn’t see Marlboro Man or any of The Punks. Not a whole lot to report.
Except that I want a new camera. David’s been saying he wants an SLR. Now I agree with him.
Granted, I wasn’t the one taking these pictures. I could blame it on operator error, but my camera does this fairly often. I am sad. I got lousy pictures with Pioneer Woman.
Oh, yeah. It’s raining here in Dallas. And guess what? I need new tires. Lost traction twice on the way to the book signing. No, my driver’s door hasn’t been fixed. It was going to be over $300 to fix so I’m waiting until after Christmas to have it repaired.
It was fun meeting The Pioneer Woman, and I’ve got a signed cook book! Looking forward to her next book, Black Heels to Tractor Wheels.
Love,
A Young Wife
P.S. I was eating oatmeal cookie dough as I typed this. All the conversation about PW’s recipes made me hungry!
Update: My SIL sent me this picture from her IPhone. This isn’t fair! Her phone takes better pictures than my camera.

Well how cool is that? Glad you got the chance to meet her.
I posted the recipe for the Ginger infused roast, here is the link for it.

Hello fellow SITSta! I need your help!
Could you vote for me in Iron Cupcake?
(I am campaigning for votes….because I put a lot of time and detail into my cupcake)
I am currently behind The Baker’s Remix……boo..L
If there is anything I can do for you in the future don’t hesitate to ask! (When I say this I am completely serious!)

Awww! I was so worried my photo would turn out bad but I got lucky. Unfortunately, we had to wait until 12:30. After that long it became a QUEST!!! But she was still awesome after signing all of those books, although all of her family had left. And then I had to drive back to Tarrant County…
Hi there! Just stopping by from SITS. Cute blog!!
So fun! I saw her on Good Morning Texas this morning. I want to try her cinnamon rolls. I hear they are the best.
Wow! That is really cool! I’ve never gone to meet an author like that. My Mom’s camera took a bunch of blurry pics in at the Gaylord’s ICE. Grrrr.
Maybe you will get one for Christmas!
Very cool!
