Dallas
8 Dec
I’ve lived in Dallas my whole life. It’s a great place. I’ve been thinking a lot lately about all the fun things there are here. As soon as David’s arthritis is in remission, I want to get back to enjoying the city. If you ever get a chance to visit, here are my recommendations.
Hotels – If money is no object, stay at The Mansion on Turtle Creek. It’s by far the best hotel I’ve ever stayed in. If you can’t stay there, go eat there. The food is divine. David once ate a steak there that changed his life.
Another good hotel is The Fairmont. David and I stayed there two years ago for a few days Thanksgiving weekend. We ordered room service and had in-room massages. It was a great getaway for us without the cost of airfare. Sort of a staycation.
Shopping – Lots of people equate shopping in Dallas with the Galleria. It is a great mall, but it’s popular and crowded. I’d send you to NorthPark or Firewheel Town Center. If you’ve got time to drive, I’d send you to Canton.
Amusement – Lots of folks like Six Flags, but I prefer Speed Zone. For families, I’d suggest The Mesquite Championship Rodeo and The Science Place.
Dining – Mena’s is my pick for Tex-Mex. Try the tamales! You need to experience Babe’s Chicken if you’re in town.
The Arts – Don’t miss The Dallas Summer Musicals at Fair Park. The Dallas Museum of Art is great, and they’ve always got interesting special exhibits.
Sports – I refuse to pay $75 to park at the new Cowboys stadium, Jerry Jones. Ride the DART rail and see the Mavericks play. The Texas Rangers is an inexpensive option and The Frisco Roughriders get you close to the action.
What’s your favorite thing to do in your city?

NorthPark is beautiful right now! When the weather is right, I love going to the Dallas Arboretum.
I’m a fan of NorthPark. I miss Dallas! I went to church there (and shopped and ate there) on the weekends when I was stationed in Wichita Falls. Stopping by from SITS.
